PSA_LEVEL-UP_QNR12. Gabriel, Clare and Benet are working on a task in a paper factory. They take 18,15 and 12 days respectively to complete the task. If Gabriel started off with the task and worked for 5 days. Gabriel takes leave and Clare works on the task for 4 days alone; Benet joins Clare now and together start working on the rest of the task, when will the job be completed?

A. 325/27

B. 82/27

C. 91/27

D. 315/27

Ans: Let us assume the task to be of 180 units [LCM of the numbers 12,15 and 18].

Gabriel’s one day work: 180/18 = 10 units

Clare’s one day work: 180/15 = 12 units

Benet’s one day work: 180/12 = 15 units

Gabriel started off and continued for 5 days.

Gabriel finished 5*10 = 50 units

Remaining units, 180-50= 130.

Clare now works on the task for 4 days to complete 12*4 = 48 units.

Remaining units, 130-48=82

Clare’s and Benet’s one day work together : 12+15 = 27 units.

Time to finish 82 units= 82/27

Total time= 5 + 4 + 82/27 = 325/27 days.
