2014_QNR 7. Ravi has 3 hens that lay eggs.

One hen lays 1 egg every day.

The second hen lays 1 egg every 2 days.

The third hen lays 1 egg every 3 days. Based on this information, how many eggs would Ravi gather over a 6 day period?

1) 18

2) 6

3) 11

4) 12

Ans: In one day, first hen lays 1 egg -> In 6 days, it would lay 6 eggs.

In two days, second hen lays 1 egg -> In 6 days, it would lay 3 eggs.

In three days, second hen lays 1 egg -> In 6 days, it would lay 2 eggs.

  1st Hen 2nd hen 3rd hen
Eggs in 6 days 6÷1 6÷2 6÷3

Total 6 + 3 + 2 = 11. Option 3.
